Leisure Outdoor Adventures Fishing Report – June 25, 2020

Leech Lake

Leech Lake was friendly to our team of Leech Lake Fishing Guides this week with Leisure Outdoor Adventures.  We are the midst of a bug hatch and this will continue for the next three weeks more than likely.  We have not seen the big mayflies quite yet but they will be coming.  Don't let this scare you off as there is still some good fishing to be had.  The key on Leech during this time is to cover water and really key in on the transition areas where these bugs are hatching.

The Main Lake has been kicking out fish in 14-20 feet of water along the main lake reefs and humps.  Pulling spinners with a crawler harness or slow death has been a good way of putting walleyes in the boat.  Key in on going .7-1.1 mph hour and cover ground until you locate the active fish.  If you need to slow down with a lindy rig and crawler or leech.  Slip bobbers are also catching fish as well.  The shoreline breaks in Walker Bay are still producing in 13-22 feet of water pulling rigs and spinners as well.

Muskies are starting to show themselves more and more as well. Open water trolling has been the best bet for these.  Also smallmouth bass fishing has been good throwing tubes, jerkbaits, and even top waters on the calm days, when we can get those.

Winnie Report

The bite has been spotty the past week due to rough weather conditions but has slowly improved over the weekend. There are fish scattered throughout some of the midlake structures such as Moses bar, Horseshoe bar and Middle Center bar. There has also been a fairly decent walleye and perch bite going on Raven's Ridge and Sugar bar (more out by sugar humps). A good number of perch can be found in Sugar Lake on the edge of the 6 foot deep cabbage beds but you will have to sort thru them to get sizable ones. Lindy rigs and spinner rigs tipped with crawlers or leeches have been the ticket for almost all our fish. With stable weather coming in the following week I truly suspect that the bite will only continue to get better out there. However, if you're struggling to find them or are looking to get out just give us a call and we will be more than happy to show you around the lake!

Mille Lacs

Fishing continues to be good on Mille Lacs on most days.  One thing to remember is to check the regulations for walleyes and live bait usage, as they are changing effective July 1st.

Walleyes have been bitting on the mud flats.  Lindy rigs and leeches have been good and also spinner rigs with crawlers or Berkley Gulp have been good for when the fish are spread out more.  Use your electronics to find the most common depth and focus on that area.  The fish will move to different depths at different times during the day.

The shallow rocks have also been good when the wind is blowing or in the evening.  Slip bobber and leeches or paddle tails work well during this time.

The smallmouth bass bite has been pretty strong in the last week.  Be prepared to fish them using different techniques as the bite can change throughout the day as well.

Cass Lake

Spinners are producing fish in 13-18 depending on wind and clouds on main lake Cass Lake. When sunny and calm, try slip bobbers in the same areas, slightly deeper, 16-20 feet of water. Evening/night time trollers are catching fish as well in 6-10 feet of water

Pike Bay is producing walleyes in 16-25 fow, Lindy and leech or spinners.

Until next week!  Give us a call at 1-855-LOA-HOOK to book a trip and check out our podcast.
