What to expect when coming to Winnie?
Spring - Some of the best walleye fishing of the year as the fish are found on wind driven pieces of structure and are often times shallow eagerly feeding on shiners and young of the year perch. Perch are often found mixed in as well. Jigs and Minnows are often the best presentation.
Summer - Walleyes begin to move off of the shallow structure to more midlake structures and breaklines. Pulling spinners, lindy rigs, or crankbaits are all good presentations. Also finding good cabbage beds is an ideal tactic when targeting walleyes and perch on Winnie.
Fall - Fishing begins to really take off when the fall colors start and the lake’s water temps get back down into the 50s and upper 40s. Look to many of the same areas that you fish in the spring and play the wind. 1/8th oz jig and minnow is a great tactic.
Winter - Northern Pike fishing can be phenomenal on the lake with great numbers and size. Winnie is known for jumbo perch and this can be one of the best times of year. Walleyes will relate to deeper structures and breaklines.
